Keith Hostetter, 87, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of Murray & Union, Nebraska, died at the Glen Haven Home on Monday, October 19, 2009. Keith was one of eight children of Dee and Pearl Hostetter of rural Murray, Nebraska.

Keith joined the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945. He married June Coates on August 1, 1945 and they made their home in rural Murray and Union, where they farmed. In 1968, Keith accepted a District Manager position with Archer Petroleum Company and they relocated to Newton, Iowa. Keith was promoted to Division Manager in 1981 and moved to Spencer, Iowa. He retired from Archer in 1987 and moved with his wife to Glenwood, Iowa.

Keith was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing along the Missouri River as well as fishing trips with the Lucas and Tackett families to Minnesota. He thoroughly enjoyed hosting fish fries for family and friends. He also hunted turkeys, pheasants, deer and coyotes. He shared fruits and vegetables from his gardens. He enjoyed playing cards with neighbors, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, his two daughters, Wanda Keefe and husband, Steve of Farragut, IA; Peggy Vallery and husband, Steve of Plattsmouth, NE; and his two sons, Tom Hostetter and wife Denise of Pella, IA and Les Hostetter and wife Mary of Colfax, IA; Grandchildren, Bill and Rachel Hostetter of Colfax, IA; Steve and Malinda Hostetter of Colfax, IA; David and Toni Hostetter of Colfax, IA; Gabe Hostetter of Des Moines, IA; Tim and Tiffany Hostetter of Waukee, IA; Michael Moore and Paulette of Murray, NE; Roger and Michaela Moore of Omaha, NE; Deborah (Moore) and Joe Hraban of Lincoln, NE and John and Jessica Vallery of Plattsmouth, NE; 18 Great Grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Younker of Louisville, NE; Delores Campbell of Louisville, NE; Arlene Topliff of Otoe, NE; sister-in-laws, Lorraine Hostetter of Murray, NE and Josephine Hostetter of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Moore; his brothers, Ronald, Kenny, John Lewis and Lyle.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Lewiston Cemetery, Kenosha Road, Murray, NE. A memorial reception will follow at the Glenwood Senior Center at Noon.
