Judith Gehrmann, age 69, of Council Bluffs, IA, formerly of Carson, IA, passed away at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, IA on Sunday,October 25, 2009.

Judith Ellen (Knapp) Gehrmann, one of four children of Priscilla Eleanor (Alden) Knapp and Cyrus Alfred Knapp, was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 6, 1940. Judith grew up on her family’s farm near Westfield, Iowa. She graduated from the Westfield High School in 1958 and then studied home economics at Iowa State University in Ames. Judith graduated from ISU in 1962 and moved to Oakland, Iowa, where she worked as the East Pottawattamie County Home Economist.

Judith and Bryce Paul Gehrmann were married at the Carson United Methodist Church on November 24, 1963. They made their home on a farm near Carson and were blessed with two children, Paul and Mary. The family were members of the Carson United Methodist Church where Judith was a past member of the Carson United Methodist Women and Suzanna Circle. Judith enjoyed sewing, reading, and any type of craft project. In 1996, Judith moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many school activities.

In September of 2009, Judith’s health forced her to move from her home to the Oakland Manor Care Center, where she died on October 25, 2009, at the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 19 days. Judith was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bruce Knapp.

She is survived by her son, Paul Gehrmann, his wife Alicia and their children, Hannah and Jonathan, all of Carson; daughter, Mary Hochstetler, her husband Greggory and their children, Jacob, Gavin, and Sean, all of Grimes, Iowa; brothers, Steve Knapp and his wife Colleen of Sioux City, and Roger Knapp and his wife Jan of Germantown, TN; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Memorials suggested to Carson United Methodist Church and East Side Christian Church in Council Bluffs, IA.
