| | | Funeral services to celebrate the life of Tommy "Tucker" Smyser, 52, a resident of Stockton, Iowa will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19th at the Blue Grass Presbyterian, 337 W. Lotte St., Blue Grass. The Rev. Dr. Mary Pugh will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service and the family will greet friends until 7:00 p.m. There will be additional visitation at church on Saturday from 10:00 until service time. Burial will take place in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (B.D.S.R.A.), 166 Humphries Dr., Reynoldsburg, OH, 43068.
Tommy died Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Thomas DeWayne Smyser was born December 8, 1956 the son of William D. and Mary E. (Jones) Smyser in Davenport. He was united in marriage to Tracy Davis, September 15, 1979.
Tommy had worked in the masonry field as owner and operator of TNT Tuckpointing and Building Restoration, L.L.C. with his wife and son. He had been a Mason and was a member of B.D.S.R.A.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tracy, of Stockton, and their son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Megan (Hass) Smyser, Davenport; his siblings, two sisters, Debra L. Hardin, Seaton, IL, and Kay M. (Donald) Loftus, Rockford, IL; two brothers, William M. Smyser, Davenport, and Joseph A. Smyser, Aledo, IL; mother and father-in-law, Bev and Louie Davis, Blue Grass; sisters-in-law, Stacey Speights, and Wanda Vrana, both of Davenport; a brother-in-law, Jeff and Deborah Davis, Ft. Belvior, VA
He was preceded in death by a son Shaun Smyser, December 11, 1998, his parents, a brother Robert Smyser and a niece Sandra L. Loftus.
