Nancy Duggan Brown, 70, of Davenport went home to the Lord, Friday, October 2, 2009, after a courageous 4 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2009 from 4 to 7 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.hmdfuneralhome.com.
Nancy was born August 1, 1939 in Davenport, the daughter of James and Inez (Littig)Duggan. She received her BA in Psychology from Augustana in 1962. She worked as a social worker for the State of Iowa. She was united in marriage to Willam Brown September 30, 1967. She received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa in 2000. She worked as a PreSchool consultant for the State of Iowa in Scott County.
Nancy was active in the Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club and the German Shepherd Club of the Quad Cities among others. She truly loved her dogs.
Her hobbies included taking care of her dogs and caring for her home. Her greatest loves were showing dogs, spending time with grandchildren, and spending time with friends and family.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters Jennifer Schnell (Louie), Amy Gaghagen (Michael), and her son Adam Brown (Laura), 9 grandbabies, Caleb, Joshua, Emily, William, Gabriel, Nathan, Nyssa, Keifer, and Brach, her brothers, Philip Duggan (Marita) and Earle Duggan (Betty), many brothers and sisters-in-law in the Brown family, and friends too numerous to list. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Brown, her parents, and a grandson, Austin Louis Schnell.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff at the Holden Gynecological Oncology Clinic at University of Iowa and the staff at Genesis Hospice Center for the loving care and support she received from each. Memorials may be made to either of these amazing organizations.
