Funeral services to celebrate the life of Kathleen F. “Kathy” Brandon, 58, a resident of Davenport will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 14th and Brady Street, Davenport. The Rev. George White will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Kathy died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, following an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
The Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kathy was born July 31, 1951 in Davenport a daughter of Robert E. and Rebecca Dean (Bailey) Brandon. She graduated from Central High School class of 1970. She then went on to attend the former Marycrest College, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Social and Behavioral Sciences.
She had been employed for 32 years by the Arrowhead Ranch, serving as a Night Supervisor for the Adolescent Center.
Kathy was a member of St. John’s United Methodist, she was an avid reader, enjoyed cross-stitch, exploring with her computer, and traveling. She had a great love for nature especially animals, in earlier years she rode horses and was a “horse fanatic”; more recently she cherished the company of her special “fur baby”, her beloved canine companion, Brandy Star.
Memorials can be made to the family in Kathy’s name.
Those left to honor her memory include, a special sister, Betty Gerleman, Davenport; sisters, Yvonne “Sunshine” Quintana, Colona, Illinois, Jeanna “Jeannie” (Dale) Fisher, Milan, Illinois, and Sandra “Sandy” (Glen) Griffith, East Moline, Illinois, brothers, Fred (Janice) Wittig, Pinnelas Park, Florida and Robert Brandon, St. Louis, Missouri; a special cousin, Donna (Jim) Meade, Bettendorf, a special nephew, Charlie Rowe, as well as numerous other loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and other family and friends.
Her parents, and a brother, Virgil Bailey, preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
