Donna died unexpectedly Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Genesis West Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Donna Jo Graves was born November 15, 1953 in Grundy Center, Iowa a daughter of Donald Carl and Marian Jean (Stumberg) Graves. She was united in marriage to William Joseph Petersen on November 3, 1973 in Buffalo, Iowa. They enjoyed nearly 36 years of marriage.
She had been employed for over twenty-years for PFG - Thoms Proestler Company, Rock Island, Illinois.
In earlier years she and Bill had been involved in both co-ed softball and bowling leagues. Donna was talented artistically and had a unique creative ability. She could take a mundane looking card or picture, and by adding her personal touch create a beautiful expression of love for family or friends. She could draw by “sketching it in her mind” and duplicating it on paper. She also enjoyed making ceramic pieces to share with family.
Donna’s greatest comfort in her life was her family. She loved spending time with her husband, Bill, her children, her parents and siblings, but she cherished most of all the time spent with her grandchildren. Country living was the life for her, being on the farm enjoying nature and playing with the kids in the “petting zoo atmosphere” was a wonderful way to relax and spend time with her loved ones.
The family invites you to make memorials to the Donna Petersen Memorial Fund; they in turn will select a few places that she supported.
Those left to honor her memory include her loving husband, Bill, children and their spouses, Sara and Allen Glover, Davenport; Stacy and Robert Palmer, Erie, Illinois; and Tom and Miranda Petersen; her beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, and Ella Glover; Ethan, Nicole, Jessica and Ryan Palmer; and Kayleigh and Addison Petersen; her parents, Don and Marian Graves, Buffalo; a sister, Nancy Roe, Davenport; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Nancy Graves, Buffalo; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
