Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy M. Seamer, 82, a resident of The Fountains Senior Living Community, Bettendorf, and formerly of rural Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 333 W. Lotte St., Blue Grass, IA. Burial will be in Walcott Cemetery, Walcott, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 2, at St. Andrews where a prayer service will be offered at 5 p.m.
Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy died Saturday, October 30, 2009, at her residence at The Fountains after an extended illness. Dorothy M. Peters was born June 5, 1927 in Durant, Iowa, the daughter of Peter Peters and Minnie (Reimers) Peters. She was united in marriage to Carlie W. Seamer April 11, 1951 in Davenport. He preceded her in death March 3, 2001.
Dorothy was a member of St. Andrews Church and Mary’s Angels.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Church or Heartland Hospice.
Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Judy and Terry Weeks, Davenport, Ann and Dick Stange, Muscatine, IA. and Carol and Ken Leslie, Long Grove IA. Serving as Pall Bearers will be Dorothy’s grandchildren: Brian, Kathleen, Eric, Erin, Zachary, Richard, Susan, and Amanda. Seven great grandchildren also survive.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carlie, a son Michael Seamer, grandsons, Bradley Weeks and Tim Stange and a brother Earl Peters.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to The Fountains and Heartland Hospice, especially Audra.
