| | | Francis “Frank” Eugene Lemon, 72 and a resident of Davenport passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Francis will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park where the American Legion, Post #26 will provide military graveside honors. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Francis was born February 27, 1937 in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Everett and Mary (Van Helst) Lemon. Francis served our country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He married Shirley Goode on November 12, 1966 in Davenport. Together they raised seven children.
Frank retired from Alcoa in 1993 after 32 years of service. He was a diehard Cubs fan. Prior to becoming ill he loved traveling around the country with his wife Shirley in their motorhome and especially enjoyed spending winters in a warmer climate.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association or Q-C Alzheimer's Association.
Family members left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Shirley, sons Brian (Cheryl) Goode, Texas, Robert (Michelle) Goode, Davenport; daughters Deborah (Jim) Hendricksen, Davenport, Linda Rhoades, Pleasant Valley, New York, Rhonda (Chris) Matje, Donahue, IA, Lisa (Robert) Inghram, Davenport and Teresa (fiance Karl Derrick) Lemon, Davenport; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His sister, Sister Marion Lemon, Springfield, IL; brother-in-law Wesley (Joan) Williams, DeWitt, IA. A very sincere thank you to Frank’s special family Lawrence and Betty VanDeKerckhove, Richard VanDeKerckhove, Sharon Corkin, Tom VanDeKerckhove, and Art and Sue Matje for all of the love they have shared. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, may they rest in peace.
The family would like to thank Linda Heidt and the staff at Genesis VNA Hospice for their compassionate care.
