| | | Graveside services for Jerry L. “Jay” Johnson, 52, of Davenport will be 1:30p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. Monday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.
Mr. Johnson passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Bettendorf Health Care following an extended illness.
Jerry Lee Johnson was born May 5, 1957 in Chicago, IL a son of Mylas and Allene (Wells) Johnson.
Jay was a roofer and “jack of all trades” who was employed in the construction trades and enjoyed working outdoors.
His love for music and playing in bands earned him the nickname “Rock-n-Roll.” He loved the blues and volunteered at the Blues Fest for the past 25 years. Jay was a caring person and enjoyed helping others in any way he could. He lived life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie Wright, Davenport; sister Juanita (Ray) Basica, Orlando, FL; brothers John (Rose) Johnson, Chicago, and James (Sue) Johnson, Westchester, IL; stepchildren Dameon Wright, Dustin Wright, and Nina DeSilva; best friend Dale “Rock-n-Roll, Jr.” Youngers; nieces and nephew Julia (Brian), Jill (James), and Jason; foster parents Paul and Fran Chernyshev; and foster brother Michael Wright.
His parents preceded him in death.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of those at Beacon of Hope Hospice, Comfort Care and Bettendorf Health Care for all of their care and support
