| | | Kenneth Irvin Caery, age 77, of Manila, died Wednesday at his home. Born in the Blackwater Community near Manila, he attended Blackwater School and was a 1948 graduate of Manila High School. He attended Arkansas State University and later graduated from California Baptist College. He pastored churches in California and Arkansas and was a retired general contractor. He was a former resident of Texarkana and Searcy and returned to Manila in 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Griffin Caery in March of 2008. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, W. W. Caery, Jr. and a sister, Wandara Burguett.
Survivors include:
2 sons; Jon Caery of Clarksville and Kent Caery of Texarkana
3 step-daughters; Deborah Bowes of Northrop, Colorado, Rebecca Lappin of Harrisburg, Missouri and Susan Croce of St. Louis, Missouri
2 brothers; Jerry Caery of Elaine, Arkansas and Charles Caery of Dekalb, Texas
3 sisters; Ora Lee Castleman of San Jose, California, Willie B. Whitney of Manila and Trudene Hatcher of Covington, Tennessee
He also leaves 3 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and 8 step-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 2 pm Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Dr. Guy Whitney, Jr., Rev. Ferrel Duffel, and Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
