Elizabeth Anne Dodd, age 65, of Cardwell,Mo passed away Thursday January 22,2009 in the loving care of her family after a prolonged illness. Known to her loved ones as Libby, she was born February 9,1943 in Moorhead, Miss. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Woodley and Ada Lillian Carr and had been a lifelong resident of Sunflower, Miss. before making her home in Cardwell. She was the second of five siblings and in 1960 married her high school sweetheart, Mr. Loyd Allen Dodd. They spent many happy years together until Mr. Loyd Allen preceded her in death in October 2002. She was a proud recipent of a high school diploma. She accompanied her husband to Washington, DC during his military service as they began their family. After his discharge and their return to Mississippi, Libby assisted in a variety of family business activities and later served as an employee of the Mississippi Department of Corrections until an injury forced her to retire. Libby took great pride in her family and was an avid supporter of her children's sports and musical activities as well as those of her many nieces and nephews. In more recent years she could frequently be found crafting or sharing stories with her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Libby remained an active supporter of the National Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation, the National Federation of the Blind, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the American Lung Association. Her favorite activities included spending time with her family, reading, attending "junk" auctions and documenting her family's genealogy.

Libby is survived by:

Her daughter: Rebecca Ann Dodd, of Cardwell,MO

Her son: Thomas Walter Dodd, and wife Juliana Dodd of Wynne, AR

Her granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Dodd of Wynne, AR

Her sister and brother- in- law, Lucy Evelyn and Johnny Posey of Byram, Miss.

Her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Fredrick and Karrie Carr of Dallas, TX
Her brother and sister-in-law, James Woodley and Twylah Carr of Dallas, TX

Memorial Services will be 10AM Saturday, Feb 7, 2009 at the Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 2504 Raymond Road, Jackson, Miss. Burial will be a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Howard Funeral Service of Leachville is in charge of local arrangements.
