| | | Ronald Dale "Ron" Cathey, 51, of Pocahontas, formerly of Manila, died January 24, 2009. Born in Watervliet, Michigan, he was the son of the late Willie and Gladys Armada Long Cathey. A former longtime Manila resident he attended Manila High School and began his business as a used car dealer before making his home in Pocahontas approximately 16 years ago. Ron was an avid race fan with a special passion for drag racing. In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Frank Cathey, Floyd Cathey and Billy Cathey, 2 sisters, Betty Brooks and Rose Caldwell.
Survivors include 3 sons from his first marriage:
Ronnie Dale Cathey and his wife Samatha of Manila
Willie Lee Cathey and his wife Ashley of Blytheville
Shawn Michael Cathey of Manila
2 children from his second marriage:
April Renee Cathey
Nathan Cathey both of Pocahiontas
1 brother:
Leon Cathey of Michigan
1 sister:
Dorothy Downing of Blytheville
He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Jenna Saleen Cathey, Ronnie Dale Cathey,Jr., Morgan Alexis Cathey, Maschel Shane Lyerly, Ashton Chase Davis and Willie Gage Lee Cathey.
Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Billy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.
