Anna Mae Chapin, age 94, formerly of Manila, died Monday at the Monette Manor Nursing Center in Monette. Born in Hornersville, MO she was the daughter of the late Gilbert William "Gib" and Rosie Leah Dial Singleton and had been a longtime resident of Northeast Arkansas. She was a graduate of Tyronza High School and the widow of Harry Chapin. She owned and operated flower shops in Blytheville and Harrisburg before moving to St. Louis, Mo., where she continued her career in the retail floral industry for several years before she and her late husband returned to Manila. Mr. Chapin referred to Manila as "The garden capital of the world". In addtion to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Alsteen "Bud" Singleton, 2 infant sisters and a beloved nephew, William Dudley "Bill" Singleton.

Survivors include:

Her sister, Olga Maxine Gleason of Atlanta, GA

She also leaves some very special people in her life, Cleo "Sonny" Massey, Greg and Laura Rooks, Clora White, Fay Walsh, Gail Penix and several nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to also recognize the Staff of Monette Manor for their care and kindess.

Funeral services will be 1PM Friday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday Morning from 11 AM until time of service.
