| | | SEYMOUR, CT: Carol Haines, age 64 of Seymour, entered into peaceful rest September 8th at her home after a courageous four year battle with ovarian cancer; she was the beloved wife of forty five years to Frank A. Haines. Mrs. Haines was born July 27, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Albert and Ruth (Endres) Wieland. Carol was a retired Children’s Home Day-Care Provider, and also had formerly worked at Viking Tool in Shelton, Dunkin Donuts in Southbury, and Hallocks Hardware in Derby. Mrs. Haines was a communicant of the Seymour Congregational Church, she was a former Brownie Troop Leader, she was very active with the Fresh Air Fund where she was a volunteer mother for many years, and was a host mother for exchange students. Carol’s interests included crochet and needle work, and shopping. Carol will be most fondly remembered for her genuine love for all children. In addition to her husband Frank, Carol leaves her loving family including her son, John R. Haines and his wife Melissa of Torrington, three daughters, Teri Haines of Bethel, VT, Tami Orcutt and her husband Chris of Portland, and Tifani Haines and her fiancé Ron Horowitz of Seymour, two brothers, Albert Weiland and his wife Judy in FL, and Gary Weiland and is wife Mary in VT, a sister, Susan O’Donnell in VA, and her five cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Orchutt, and Damon, Waylon, and Cole Haines. Her daughter, Traci L. Haines predeceased her.
Carol’s husband and family wish to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Masoud Azodi and his caring staff for all of their expertise and kindness during Carol’s illness; they also wish to thank the staff at the Yale Gynecological Oncology Unit and especially, Karen, Karen, Karen, Jen, and Dee; also Carol’s Hospice Homecare Nurse, Evelyn.
Funeral services in celebration of Carol’s life will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to the VNA Hospice, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484, or to the Traci L.
