| | | SEYMOUR, CT: Michael Edward Bendler, Sr., age 71 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest March 21st in Waterbury; he was married to Suzanne (Hardaswick) Bendler. Mr. Bendler was born January 11, 1937 in Derby, son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Foley) Bendler; he was a lifelong Seymour resident. Michael was retired from the New Haven Copper Company formerly in Seymour where he worked for thirty four years. Mr. Bendler was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of the David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion, Oxford. Michael was a graduate of Seymour High School where he played for the school football team, he later went on to play Semi-Professional Football with the New Haven Rams; he was an avid sportsman, and also played third base with the Pomperaug Baseball League for many years. Michael was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour; he was a former of the Concordia Singing Society and was formerly employed by Schiavi Well Drilling. In addition to his wife, Michael leaves his loving family including three children, Irene Yocher and her husband Gordon of Oxford, Michael E. Bendler, Jr. of Seymour, and Victoria Bendler-Reza of Seymour, two brothers, Edward Bendler of Rocky Hill, and John Bendler and his wife Julie of Rapid City, SD, a sister, Mary Tokarz of Seymour, six grandchildren, Natalie Beecher and her husband Eli, Lindsay, Kaylee, and Megan Yocher, Zachariah Bendler, and Tuckker Bendler-Reza, a great granddaughter, Abigail Beecher, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
