| | | OXFORD, CT: Sylvia M. Bawlick, age 63 of Oxford entered into peaceful rest at her home June 20th; she was the beloved wife of forty two years to Michael T. Bawlick. Mrs. Bawlick was born in Torrington on May 9, 1945, daughter of the late Leonard and Sylvia Phelps. She resided in Oxford since 1965, coming from Bantam. Sylvia was a former waitress at Fritz’s Snack Bar for many years. She was a devoted communicant of Christ Church, Quaker Farms where she served on the Altar Guild and passionately gave of her talent for singing; she sang with the choir there and especially enjoyed it when she sang as a soloist. Sylvia was also an avid bowler. In addition to her husband, Sylvia leaves her loving family including her daughter, Cheryl Menders and her husband Douglas of Fredericksburg, VA, and her son Daniel Bawlick and his wife Lisa of Oxford, a brother, Judson Phelps in North Dakota, and five cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Joseph, Jacob, Joshua, and Caleb. Her sister Ida predeceased her.
A Memorial Service of Requiem Eucharist in celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Church, 470 Quaker Farms Road, Oxford. Interment will follow in the Memorial Garden there. Family and friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Music Enhancement Fund of Christ Church.
