| | | NAUGATUCK, CT: Ruth Lillian (Damon) Chobian age 78 of Naugatuck formerly of Oxford and Seymour entered into peaceful rest July 6th after a long illness at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury; she was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph Chobian, Sr. Mrs. Chobian was born June 22, 1930 in Island Pond, VT, daughter of the late Warren and Maud (Sadleir) Damon. Ruth was a retired Registered Nurse after thirty years, having worked at both Yale New Haven Hospital, and Griffin Hospital; she also worked in several nursing facilities around the Naugatuck Valley. She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church, Oxford; Ruth was an avid NY Yankees fan and she enjoyed reading. Mrs. Chobian will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family.
Ruth leaves her loving family including two sons, Joseph Chobian and his wife Rose of Oxford, and Michael Chobian and his fiancé Diane of Branford, her daughter, Penny Caproski Chobian of Naugatuck, a brother Malcom Damon in New Mexico, a sister, Jane Hill of State College, PA, six grandchildren, Michael Chobian, Jr. of Naugatuck, Valerie Chobian of Oxford, Joseph Chobian of Oxford, Sean Chobian of Naugatuck, and Randee Chobian of Branford, also several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Bernard Damon, sisters, Joyce Edson and Hilda “Babe” Duda, and her granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Hayden.
A funeral service in celebration of Ruth’s life will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
