| | | NAUGATUCK AND SEYMOUR, CT: Elizabeth S. “Betty”Ainsworth, age 82 of Clark Road, Naugatuck entered into peaceful rest, October 28th at the Waterbury Hospital; she was the beloved wife of the late Phillip H. Ainsworth, Sr. Mrs. Ainsworth was born in North Adams, MA, on September 16, 1922, daughter of the late Edward and Sara (Morgan) Pettibone. Betty was a resident of Naugatuck for ten years, having resided in Seymour for thirty five years. She was a communicant of the Seymour Congregational Church. Mrs. Ainsworth was a former taxi cab driver with the Valley Cab Co.; she also enjoyed square dancing, needlepoint, and embroidery.
Elizabeth leaves her loving family including two sons, Phillip H. Ainsworth, Jr. of Glastonbury, and Robert Ainsworth and his wife Nancy of Oxford, a daughter, Sara Lee Mandela and her husband John of Merrimack, NH, a brother, John Pettibone, three sisters, Laura Messina, Carol Gerry, and Theresa Kalinowski all of Pownal, VT, and two grandchildren, Lisa and Erick Mandela both of Merrimack, NH. Her brothers Charles, Daniel, and Edward Pettibone, and sisters, Henrietta Langlais, Frances Pettibone, and Bridget Paul all predeceased her.
A funeral service in celebration of Betty’s life will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home also on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
