| | | SEYMOUR, CT: John R. “Flash” Berenda, age 70 entered into peaceful rest June 12th at the West Haven Veteran’s Administration Medical Center; he was the beloved husband of Dolores (Sorensen) Berenda. Mr. Berenda was born November 18, 1935 in Derby, son of the late John and Julia (Lazarko) Berenda. He was a longtime Seymour resident, and was a retired lithographer-artist with the former Kurt H. Volk Company in Milford. Mr. Berenda was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Great Hill United Methodist Church. John enjoyed golf, carpentry, and music; he played the accordion. John was an accomplished artist and was best known for his portraits.
Besides his wife John leaves is loving family including three daughters, Julie Criscuolo and her husband John of Seymour, Michelle Goktepe and her husband Cem of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Tammy Shallis and her husband Ed of Oxford, two sisters, Jeanette Hein and her husband William of Beacon Falls, and Judy Cannon and her husband William of Seymour, and seven grandchildren, Scott and Jessica Criscuolo, Jonathan, Alara, and Tanner Goktepe, and Connor and Brett Shallis, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, to Great Hill United Methodist Church, for a service at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Great Hill Cemetery.
