| | | F. Jean Swift, age 82, of Washington, Iowa died Monday, June 29th at the Halcyon House in Washington following an extended illness.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, July 8th at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Paul Appel officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Tuesday evening. Prayer services be held 7:30 Tuesday evening at the Jones Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Jean’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Jean was born July 24, 1926 in Indiana the daughter of Robert and Florence (Hancock) Ufhiel. She attended school in Chicago where she graduated from high school. In April 1944, Jean was united in marriage to Robert Swift in Chula Vista, California. Jean and Robert have lived in Washington County since the late 1940’s.
In 1976 Jean started in realty and has owned and operated Swift Realty for 27 years. In her earlier years Jean assisted her husband at the Washington County Jail. She and her husband also owned and operated the Willow’s Restaurant for eight years.
Jean is a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington. She was a City Hostess in Washington and did a lot of volunteer work in the city of Washington.
She is survived by her husband Robert Swift of Washington, Iowa; son Craig Swift and wife Barb of Washington, Iowa; one grandson Abe Swift of Washington, Iowa; one brother John Ufhiel of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and a half sister Sharon Kuikman of Chicago, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary, two sisters Donna and Sheila and one brother Bob.
