| | | Judy A. Wilson Wessling, age 59, of Washington, Iowa died Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Solon following a heroic battle with cancer.
Celebration of life reception will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 11th at the Marr Park Conservation Center in rural Ainsworth, Iowa. The family will receive friends following services. Private family interment will take place at the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Iowa City Hospice, the Jenna Waters Fund, Paws and More or the Washington Community Y kids scholarship fund. Judy was born January 14, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa the daughter of John William and Thelma (Kerr) Wilson. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1968 and attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
Judy has lived in Washington, Iowa since 1976, where she worked at the Washington Junior High School as a paraeducator and as a swimming instructor at the Washington Community Y. She also worked for several years at Systems, Inc. She volunteered at the animal shelter in Washington for many years and also taught private swim lessons at her home. Judy has touched many peoples hearts throughout her life.
Judy is survived by four children: daughter Angi Shelangoski and husband Eric and their children Mitchell and Hali of Solon, Iowa; Son Chuck Wessling and his son Gaige of Hiawatha, Iowa; daughter Chrissy Roberts and husband Micah and their children Jacque and Kealy of Monticello, Iowa; and son A.J. Wessling and wife Kelsey and their daughter Kylee of Washington, Iowa. She is also survived by her special friend Bill Stewart of Iowa City, Iowa; sister Mary Kennedy and husband Ken of Champaign, Illinois; brother Bill Wilson and wife Molly of Framingham, Massachusetts ; Sister Andi Wilson of Weymouth, Massachusetts; one niece Melyssa Wilson and one nephew Matthew Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
