Barbara Jean Jennings, 74, of Washington formerly of Corydon died Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Halcyon House in Washington following a two year battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services in conjunction with Eastern Star services will be held 2:00 pm Friday July 31, 2009 at the Corydon United Methodist Church in Corydon, Iowa with Rev. John Boatman officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday at the Corydon United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends. The family will also receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am Saturday August 1, 2009 at Alexis Cemetery in Alexis, Illinois. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the Alexis Cemetery with Rev. Cindy Redding officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Corydon Care Center, Hospice of Washington County, Halcyon House in Washington or the American Cancer Society. Barbara was born on February 26, 1935 in Little York, Illinois the daughter of Milburn “Bud” Theodore and Lola Marie (Dennison) Brown. She graduated from Alexis High School in Alexis, Illinois. Barbara worked as a shipping supervisor for Deflecta Shield in Corydon for eighteen years. She also raised livestock in Corydon. She was a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church, and Eastern Star Corydon Chapter 3550. She was involved as a hospice volunteer and helped with her church circles. She enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities, volunteering, taking care of her animals, and traveling.

She is survived by her children, Robert Bruns and wife Cindy of Louisville, Illinois; Diane Bruns of Roseville, Illinois; David Bruns and wife Billie of Washington, Iowa; Richard Bruns and wife Jean of Huxley, Iowa; ten grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and one brother, John H. “Herb” Brown and wife Pauline of Viola, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
