| | | Lucille Myrtle Wenger, age 94, of Ainsworth, Iowa died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction, as the result of a stroke.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 24th at the Ainsworth Community Church with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 am Sunday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday Afternoon. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Community Church, Ainsworth First Responders or Hospice of Washington County. Lucille was born May 6, 1915 near Manchester, Kansas the daughter of Earl A. and Mary (Isaac) Cramer. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1932 in Abilene, Kansas. Following graduation, she worked for a family in Abilene, Kansas and later for a family in San Francisco, California. On December 19, 1939 Lucille was united in marriage to Elmer F. Wenger in Abilene, Kansas.
After her marriage, she and her husband moved to a farm near Wayland, Iowa. They also lived on farms near Swedesburg, Havre, Wyman and Ainsworth. She was a homemaker and enjoyed growing flowers, crocheting, quilting and needlepoint. Lucille was a member of the White Cloud Club, Sorosis, ACCW and the Ainsworth Community Church.
She is survived by one daughter Judith Lindquist of Stuart, Florida; one son James Wenger and wife Linda of Ainsworth, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister Geneva Carrier of Abilene, Kansas and one brother-in-law Gilbert Wenger and wife Liz of Salina, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994; one son, Joseph; one daughter, Jill; three brothers, Ivan, Gene and Leslie Cramer; and three sisters Mary Ruth Cramer, Viola Thacker and Leona Copeland.
