| | | Charles D. Gould, age 57, of Marshalltown, Iowa died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials have been established with the Iowa Veterans Home. Charles was born December 26, 1951 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Jack and Donna (Noble) Neuenkirk. Charles graduated from Cooking School in Duluth, Minnesota and cooked in several restaurants in Iowa City, Iowa and Duluth, Minnesota. He later roofed houses in Georgia.
Charles was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict where he served in the Navy. He enjoyed animals, especially taking care of his cat. Charlie enjoyed cooking and traveling the countryside. He was known as a very kind and giving person.
He is survived by one son Charles Gould Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter Jennifer Pena of Grimes, Iowa; one brother Patrick Gould of New Sharon, Iowa; and two sisters, Alice Neuenkirk of Morning Sun, Iowa and Mary McKune and husband Phil of Washington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Tom Neuenkirk; and two sisters Linda Foster and Doris Neuenkirk.
