| | | Norma Fern Knight, age 81, of Washington died Tuesday August 25, 2009 at the Washington Care Center following an extended illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Saturday August 29, 2009 at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at Valley Cemetery in rural Washington County. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Norma’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Norma was born on April 12, 1928 in Paris Valley, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Ethel Mae (Frank) Churchill. She attended rural country school. On November 29, 1947 Norma was united in marriage to Clyde O. Knight in Rock Island, Illinois. Norma worked several different occupations outside of her home as a cook, waitress, and as a nurses aide. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, St. Josephs Altar & Rosary, and the Moose Lodge. Norma enjoyed crocheting and loved to fish.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Shelby Jean Emry of Brighton, Iowa; step children, Gary Knight of Louden, Tennessee; Sondra Jones of Washington, Iowa; Virginia Gleason of LaHarpe, Illinois; and Terry “Speedy” Knight of Washington; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother Charles Churchhill of Waseca, Minnesota; and one sister, Arlene Kroymann and husband Alfred of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one step son, one brother, two sisters and one great granddaughter.
