| | | Emily V. Lins, age 93, of Washington died Wednesday October 28, 2009 at Halcyon House in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 1st at the
Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer and Rev. Sally Graves officiating. Visitation will begin noon Saturday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3:00 until 5:00 Saturday afternoon. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A memorial has been established for the United Church of Brighton. Emily was born on December 25, 1915 near Riverside, Iowa the daughter of Alois and Barbara (Hodney) Musil. She attended country school in Washington County and graduated from Washington High School in 1934. Emily was united in marriage to Howard E. Lins on January 26, 1942 in Washington, Iowa.
Emily’s parents died at a young age and she helped raise her younger sisters before her marriage. She enjoyed farm life and helped her husband with their farming operation. They moved from their Brighton farm to Washington in 1968. She loved flower gardening, traveling, crocheting, embroidery and cooking for her family. She will always be remembered for her love of everything and everyone.
She was a member of the United Church of Brighton, a 70 year member of the Zimri Rebekah Lodge and the Clay Social Club.
Emily is survived by three sons, Steven Lins and wife Lorraine of San Leandro, California; Edwin (Ed) Lins and wife Marjorie of Washington, Iowa; George Lins of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Joyce Wilson of Washington, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Steven Lins, Dan Lins, Bryce Lins, Meredith Gear, Corey Wilson, Lesley Lasseter, Ross Male, Jason Reed and Robyn Craig; as well as nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Mildred Koenigsmark of Shepardsville, Kentucky and Libbie, Ella and Elsie Musil of Burson, California as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1996, her brother Alois Musil and six sisters Anna Marie Musil, Barbara Wilson, Louise Anderson, Sylvia Hyncik, Georgia Koenigsmark and Vlasta Pavlik.
