Brenda Jo (Swift) Suszko, 54, of Marion, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at home of an extended illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Rick Gail. The family will greet friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the funeral home. Additional services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial: Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, IA.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Harry; her parents, Marion and JoAnn Swift; two sisters, Susan Swift of Waterloo, and Gina Swift of Iowa City. Also surviving are two nieces, Jill and Jody; one nephew, Johnny; and 80 first cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Wara Suszko, and a brother-in-law, Michael Suszko.

Brenda was born May 25, 1955, in Washington Iowa to Marion A. and Georgia J. (Chalupa) Swift. She was married to Harry Suszko on September 29, 1984, in Cedar Rapids. Brenda was a member of First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids. She was an avid crafter, stamper, beader, and quilter. Her greatest joy was helping others.

During Brenda’s services, the family will be providing hand sanitizer and surgical masks to help provide barriers against the flu.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be directed to the Community Health Free Clinic of Cedar Rapids at: 947 14th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52401, in Brenda’s honor.
