Gary Dale Lyndgaard, 59, of Evansdale, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. He was born August 7, 1949 in Cedar Falls the son of Virgil and Phyllis Doehle Lyndgaard.

He graduated from Hawkeye Tech as a Certified Machinist and had worked as a welder for Grosse Manufacturing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Survived by: his mother, Phyllis Lyndgaard of Evansdale; a brother-in-law, Paul Shonk of Evansdale; a nephew, Larry (Sheri) Shonk of Independence; five great nieces and three great nephews.

Preceded in death by: his father and one sister, Susan Shonk.

Services: will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at the First Reformed Church in Evansdale with burial in the Garden of Memories. Military rites will be conducted at the church by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and the V.F.W. Post 1623. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Kearns, Huisman Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
