| | | Duane E. McClain, 80, of Waterloo died Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.
He was born April 23, 1928 in Waterloo, son of Archie and Hilda Mohlis McClain. He married Helen M. Westendorf May 20, 1947 in Bremer County.
Mr. McClain worked at Rath Packing Company for 29 years, Orly’s Locker in Clarksville for many years, and retired from Farmstead in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Waterloo; two sons, Leon (Pauline) McClain of LaPorte City, and Jimmy McClain of Waterloo; five daughters, Judy Dawson of Evansdale, Dixie (Larry) Wood of Rochester, MN, Sharon McClain of LaPorte City, Carol (Chris) Kremer of LaPorte City, and Donna (Charlie) Holt of LaPorte City; four sisters, Beverly (Larry) Bailey-Morrison of Oran, Betty Smith of Cedar Rapids, Sandi Sandhagen of Peoria, AZ, and Iva (Dan) Mickelson of Phoenix, AZ; fifteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James McClain.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
