Richard F. “Dick” Suiter, 82, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Friendship Village from a head injury which was the result of a fall. He was born July 31, 1926 in Denison the son of Richard and Edna Diem Suiter. He married Virginia Morris on September 26, 1948 in Waterloo.

He worked as a Cost Analyst for John Deere Co. for 33 years, retiring Feb 28, 1982. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Survived by: his wife, Virginia of Waterloo; two sons, Lee of Denver, CO and Mark (Teri) Suiter of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Karlowicz of Phoenix, AZ, Brian (Amanda) Suiter of Lincoln, IL, Nathan (Amber) Suiter of Nashville, TN, Rachel Suiter of Waterloo, Abigail Suiter of Seattle, WA, Jared Olson of Waverly, Alannah Olson of Cedar Falls and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Suiter and Riley Karlowicz.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Kearns, Huisman – Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and the V.F.W. Post 1623. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice or the Friendship Village Auxiliary.
