| | | Genevieve J. Morgan, 82, of La Porte City, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton after a lengthy illness. She was born April 4, 1927 in La Porte City the daughter of Roy and Rachel Phillips Lee.
She worked at G& L Industries currently known as Musco Lighting in Oskaloosa from 1979-1994. She was a member of the La Porte City American Legion and St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Gen loved the outdoors, in her younger years she enjoyed hunting and fishing and above all loved spending time with family and friends. A devoted mother and grandmother, Gen will be remembered for her funny and witty personality, her optimistic attitude and her love and devotion to family.
Survived by: two daughters, Linda (Clyde Renn) Brodigan of Vinton, Vickie Kerr of Diagonal; two grandchildren, Shannon (C.J. Fleming) Brodigan of Waterloo, Rochelle (T.J.) Richards of Dysart; two great-grandchildren, Alexis of Waterloo and Corbin of Dysart and one brother Jim (Marilyn) Lee of La Porte City.
Preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, Bill Lee and one sister, Connie Davis.
Memorials Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City with the family receiving friends on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at La Porte City Funeral Service and also one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be held in the West View Cemetery.
