| | | Ocea A. Davis Smith, 98, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.
She was born June 18, 1911 in Quasqueton, daughter of Bert and Nancy Belle Soper Chase. She married Charles Davis and he preceded her in death. She later married William Smith, and he also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was employed at Hummel’s Smoke Shop in Waterloo for 20 years.
Survivors include one son, Ron (Joyce) Davis of Harpers Ferry; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, Warren Davis; three daughters, Valeta Miller, Valerie Harrison, and Connie Smith; one stepson, Jim Smith; two brothers, Lloyd and Forrest Chase; and one sister, Elta.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Hymns section of Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Garden View Chapel. The casket will be closed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
