Harlan F. Walther, 74, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Waterloo, died Friday morning (July 31, 2009) at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.
He was born August 23, 1934 in Waterloo, the son of Harold and Doris Olney Walther. He married Norma J. Ziemer on May 16, 1954 in Waterloo.
Harlan worked as a clerk/manager for Hy-Vee Stores for 34 years, retiring in 1991. He was also a charter member of the Proud Image Barbershop Chorus.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Brian (Connie) of Omaha, NE and Alan (Lisa) of Rochester, MN; one daughter, Deborah (David) Aries of Rochester, MN; and six grandchildren, Kelley Walther, Stephanie Walther, Gretchen Aries, Matthew Walther, Andrew Walther and Peter Walther.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Chris; and one sister, Ruth Love.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, Aug 3, at Trinity American Lutheran Church with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday and an hour before services at the church.
