| | | Curtis Edward Tibbals, Sr., 80, of Evansdale, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.
He was born November 8, 1928, son of Curtis A. and Emma Begeman Tibbals in Lime Springs. He married Mary Linstroth in 1951 in Texas, and they were later divorced. He then married Shirley Ann Qual Beasley March 19, 1959 in Evansdale.
Mr. Tibbals was employed by the Waterloo Community School System as a custodian and then head maintenance engineer for 32 years, before retiring in December, 1992.
Survivors include his wife of Evansdale; two sons, Curtis E. (Debra) Tibbals, Jr. of Evansdale, and Brett J. Tibbals of Evansdale; one stepson, Ronald C. (Noemi) Beasley of Austin, Texas; five daughters, Susan M. (Joe) Rodgers of Lanesboro, Minnesota, Carmen L. Tibbals of Union Grove, Wisconsin, Denise L. (Joe) Card of Evansdale, Cindy L. (Dave) Weyland of Gilbertville, and Christi A. (Chad) Sires of Evansdale; four sisters, Tressa Albert of Lime Springs, Effie Morris of Waterloo, Frances Poppenga of Canton, South Dakota, and his twin sister, Clarice (Darrell) Crouse of Waterloo; twelve grandchildren; three step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Tibbals; and one sister, Edith Albert.
Services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one half hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
