| | | Floyd W. Harper, 96, of the Western Home died Thursday morning, August 6, 2009, at Windhaven.
He was born December 7, 1912 in Woodbine, the son of Walter and Edith Steihl Harper. He married Nora F. Fulton on June 15, 1935 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1995.
Floyd worked in the Set-up Department at John Deere Tractor Works for 38 years retiring in 1973. He was a charter member of St Timothy's United Methodist Church and a member of the Eagle's Lodge. He is survived by one son, Larry E. (Kathy) Harper of Onalaska, WI; one sister, Esther Scott of Waterloo; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Harper; and two sisters, Grace Stansberry and Mary Bowers.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Garden View Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday and an hour before services Saturday.
Those who wish may direct memorials to the Waterloo Department of Leisure Services - Gates Park.
A special thank you to the management and staff of Cedar Valley Hospice, the Western Home Communities and Windhaven for the exemplary care, help and understanding of Dad for all the years. Your thoughtfulness and attention were greatly appreciated.
