Florence H. Olson, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, August 16, at Manor Care of natural causes.

She was born September 3, 1917 in Denver, the daughter of Herman and Alvina Buenneke Hein. She married William E. Lininger on June 12, 1937 in Waterloo. He was killed in action in WW ll on December 4, 1944. She then married Dr. Lester C. Olson on December 20, 1952 in Dows. He died on July 23, 1986.

Florence graduated from East High and was employed by the Black Hawk County Chapter of the American Red Cross from 1945-1950. She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary and Trinity American Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlyne (Robert) Conway of Denver; three granddaughters, Katie (Gary) Oelmann of Ackley, Traci (Gary) Bush of Wichita, KS and Susan (Jerome) Jackson of North Aurora, IL; six great grandchildren, Ryan and Krissy Oelmann, Garrett and Ciara Bush, Joshua and Joy Jackson; and one great great granddaughter, Allesandra Sara; two sisters, her twin sister, Florine Brown of Strawberry Point and Marion Watson of Tampa, FL; one stepson, Lester C. (Donna) Olson, JR. of St Louis, MO; and seven step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Hein.

Services will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, August 21, 2009, at Trinity American Lutheran Church with burial in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation, the casket will be closed.

Memorials may be directed to the church

The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
