| | | Billy L. Becker, 60, of Readlyn, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer. He was born December 14, 1948 in Oelwein, the son of Lester L. and Verla M. Tiedt Becker. He married Sandy Fortsch on April 6, 1974 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He worked in Machine Maintenance for John Deere Co. for 30 years, retiring in 2005 and currently was working for Joe Kresser Trucking of Jesup.
Survived by: his wife, Sandy of Readlyn; his mother, Verla Drollinger of Iowa City; three daughters, Nicole (Ben) Wilkens of Waverly; Michelle (Dan) Smith of Sumner, Amanda Hall of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, Lauren and Jackson Wilkens, Kaylea Kramer, Lane, Jacob and Evelyn Smith, Tyler and Brennen Hall and Mason Ackerson and one sister, Jane (Steve) Coons of New Boston, IL.
Preceded in death by: his father and Melvin and Vera Warneke.
Celebration of Life Services: will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Garden View Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials: may be directed to the family.
