Harold Walter McElroy, 79, of Urbana, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at his home. He was born July 11, 1930 in Lusk, WY the son of Ronald F. and Hazel R. Moore McElroy. He married Helen Ruth Stocks on March 3, 1956 in Waterloo.

He worked as a Machine Operator for John Deere Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He Served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict.

Survived by: his wife, Helen of Urbana; two daughters, Brenda (Scott) Olson of Denver; Cherie (Duane) Wall of Columbia Station, OH; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald (Genny) of Littleton, CO, Hugh of Wichita Falls, TX, Maitlend of Davenport, John (Gloria) of Wichita, KS and two sisters, Dawn Haefner of Grand Junction, CO and Wanita Watson of Davenport.

Preceded in death by: his parents and two brothers in infancy, Robert and Herman McElroy.
