Edna G. Mussett, 100, of Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center died there Tuesday, September 29, 2009 of natural causes.

She was born January 16, 1909 in Inkster, North Dakota, daughter of Herbert and Katie Turner Simmons. She married Orren Martin Mussett March 31, 1929 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1992.

Mrs. Mussett was the Past Noble Dame of the Waterloo Elklettes. She also was a member of Linden United Methodist since 1943.

Survivors include three daughters, Irene (Donald) Strickler of Grundy Center, Evelyn Phennicie of Elk Run Heights, and Janice (Kenneth) Nelson of Floresville, Texas; one sister, Ruth Messingham of Waterloo; eight granddaughters; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, Lloyd, Rex, Wayne, Mervin, Leslie, and Donald Simmons; and two sisters, Sylvia Simmons and Zelma Laylin.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
