Louise Lutjens, 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes.

She was born September 2, 1923 in Keokuk, daughter of Dr. Alonzo and Florence Rice Overbaugh. She married Edwin Lutjens October 19, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska.

Mrs. Lutjens was a cosmetologist, owning her own beauty shop in South Sioux City. She was a long time member of First Church of the Open Bible.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin, of Waterloo; one daughter, Lauryce Leigh (Richard) Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Laurel Lynn (J.J.) Havelock of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Nathen (Sarah) Thomas, Jeremy (Karen) Thomas, Laurinda (Nathan Bishop) Thomas, and Janna (Edgardo) Baez-Thomas; and three great grandchildren, Liam Edwin Thomas, Sofia Paige Baez, and Sabastian Pryce Baez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Craig Lutjens.

Services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial and a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. Monday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hull. Public visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Louise was in love with Jesus Christ.
