Gerald R. Bluhm, 91, of Friendship Village, died there Saturday, October 10, 2009 of natural causes.

He was born October 24, 1917 in Bertha, Minnesota, son of Emil and Bertha Leyh Bluhm. He married Stella Carnes on April 8, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2008.

Mr. Bluhm was employed as an electrician at Rath Packing Company for 41 years, retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II. Gerald was also a lifelong member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dennis (Beverly) Bluhm of Stephens City, Virginia; one sister, Arvilla Captain of Bertha, Minnesota; and one granddaughter, Angela (Justin) Jones of Baltimore, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Brian Bluhm; five brothers, Harold, Raymond, Ralph, Orville, and Donover Bluhm; and one sister, Helen Voge.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.
