| | | Dale E. Sommerlot, 78, of Waterloo, died Sunday afternoon, Oct 25, 2009, at the Grundy Care Center.
He was born June 30, 1931 in Albion, the son of Merl and Margaret Harper Sommerlot. He married E. Ruth Manz on August 12, 1951 at the Chapel Church in Green Mountain.
Dale served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis and ISU. He was employed at the PEC of the John Deere Company for 30 years, was part of the KNWS Christian Radio and was Director of the Cedar Falls Bible Conference for a short time.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Delvin (Renee) Sommerlot and Kent (Christena) Sommerlot both of Dunkerton; three daughters, Maureen (Glen) Wiley of Marshalltown, Mel (Darwin) Engelkes of Holland and Michelle (Joe) Campbell of Waterloo; two brothers, Richard (Ramona) Sommerlot of Union and Leon (Sharon) Sommerlot of Marshalltown; a brother-in-law, Maurice (Darlene) Manz of Marshalltown; a sister-in-law; Mavis Sommerlot of Denver; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Max, Wilfred Bill and Keith; a great grandson, Emmett Hansen; and two sisters-in-law, JoAnne Sommerlot and Jimmy Sommerlot.
Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, Oct 29, 2009, at Greenhill Baptist Church with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49.
Friends may call at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball from 5 8 P.M. Wednesday and an hour before services at the church on Thursday.
