John F. Hansen, Sr., 72, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born January 3, 1937 in Waterloo, son of John F. and Gurna Mae Dawson Hansen. He married Kathleen "Kay" Fink January 19, 1957 in Braidwood, Illinois.

Mr. Hansen worked at Waterloo Box Factory, John Deere & Company, Chamberlain Manufacturing, and was an ironworker with Local 89 when he retired in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, of Fredericksburg; one son, John F. Hansen, Jr. of Fredericksburg; five daughters, Tammy Steege of Charles City, Karen (Lynn) Springmier of New Hampton, Sherry (Jack) Melver of Ionia, Kim (Al) Steinlage of New Hampton, and Michelle (Sid) Gebel of Lawler; one sister, Bernice Garcia of Independence; twelve grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diana Hansen; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Hansen; and six sisters, Onie Hansen, Virginia Kohl, Kathryn Nicol, Jessie Jabens, Myrtle June Stille, and Emma Lou Randall.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
