| | | Rebecca L. “Becci” Hanson, age 56, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Becci was born October 10, 1953 in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Siedel) Cretsinger. She graduated from Oelwein High School and attended Upper Iowa University, the University of Iowa and graduated from the Nursing Program at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. She married Ronald H. Hanson in Independence, Iowa.
at the time of her death she was a student at UNI.....
She worked as a Registered Nurse at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo in the surgical and rehabilitation areas before retiring due to health issues. Becci was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. At the time of her death, she was a student at UNI , loved going to college and was fond of studying. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching and traveling with her husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of Waterloo; two sons, Keith (Deanne) Briggs and Jeff (Sara) Briggs, all of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Karin (Mike) Hanson of Cedar Falls and Jennifer (Larry) Moen of Dike, IA; a stepson, David (Rachel) Hanson of Mankato, MN; a stepdaughter, Susan (Paul) Falk of Milo, IA; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; six brothers, Randy Connell of Fort Dodge, IA, Michael (Cathy) Rhomberg of Elkader, IA, Allen (Kim) Connell of Mason City, IA, Larry (Sharon) Schluttenhofer of Iowa City, IA, Robert (Brenda) Cretsinger of Waterloo and Olie Olsen of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Jeanne Hupp of Peoria, IL and Patricia Cretsinger of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son in infancy.
Family directed Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Celebrations First Assembly of God Church, 745 April St., Waterloo with inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel in Waterloo. Her body will be cremated following visitation.
