| | | Our country is in mourning, for a soldier died today. Alfred F. Frahm, age 91, of Evansdale, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1919 in Waterloo, the son of Herman H. and Amanda (Plaster) Frahm. Alfred was united in marriage with June M. Culver on December 22, 1943 in Reno, Nevada.
Alfred worked as a Tool and Die maker for John Deere & Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Alfred was a Charter Member and a Life Member of Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Evansdale.
Survivors include his wife, June Frahm of Evansdale; a son, Donald (Judy) Frahm of Dunkerton,IA; two daughters, Lynette Riley of Waterloo and Paula (Willard “Joe”) Ratchford, Jr. of Augusta, KS; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy Petersen, Darlene Vogt and Grace Massina, all of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers-in-law, Frank Massina and George Petersen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Evansdale. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel in Waterloo and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
