| | | Edna B. Engel, 97, of Waterloo and formerly of Waverly and Denver, died Friday afternoon, January 14, 2011 at the Denver Sunset Home.
She was born November 6, 1913 in Maxfield Township, Bremer County, the daughter of William C. and Minnie Bahe Wehling. She married Phillip J. Engel on November 10, 1941 in Kirksville, MO. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1985.
Edna started writing poetry after her husband’s death. Some of her works appeared in the Waverly paper and the Elderway Paper in Waterloo.
She is survived by a godchildren, Judy (Charles) Hutchison of Davenport and Amanda Hutchison of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by Brian Hutchison of Davenport and Adam (Erika) Hutchison of St Louis, MO.
Edna was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Morgan.
Services will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, Jan 20, 2011 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call for 2 hours before services.
