|Joseph H. Broxterman, 84, passed away, Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Midland Hospice House. He was born March 21, 1927 the son of Joseph and Dena (Voet) Broxterman.
Joseph graduated from Baileyville High School in 1945. He served in the US Army with one year duty in Korea.
On May 20, 1950 he married Marie Eichman in Wamego, KS. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for twelve years and also owned and operated Mays Delivery and Broxterman Retail Liquor Store.
He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #534 Fourth Degree and served two years as Grand Knight.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Broxterman; sons, Dr. Steven (Jan) Broxterman, Overland Park, KS; Gregory (Nancy) Broxterman, Topeka; daughters, Theresa (John) Hubbell, Topeka; Linda Halverson, Topeka; Brenda (Darrell) Martinek; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; brother, Norbert Broxterman, Soldier, KS; sister, Odelia Sudbeck, Seneca, KS. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norene Bauer and his great granddaughter, Reagan Carol Broxterman.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 from 5 to 8p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home with a rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care or Most Pure Heart of Mary sent in care of the funeral home.
