| | | Robert “Bob” Lee Treinen, 66, Auburn, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, after a short lived battle with liver cancer.
Bob was born at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka on February 18, 1946, the son of Tom and Josie Treinen. He attended grade school in Burlingame and graduated from Seaman High School in 1964. Bob was drafted into the army in 1965 and served two years in Vietnam in the 87th combat engineer battalion. After leaving the army, Bob apprenticed and worked for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local Union 165 until he retired in 1997. He married Letha Meyer in 1969 and had two children, Stacy and Scott. They later divorced. He married Cheryl (Becker) Apps in 2001. Bob was a charter and lifetime member of the VVA 604, a life member of the DAV and VFW. He was also an active member of the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 7769. Bob enjoyed boating, camping, restoring old cars, car shows, music and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Treinen, Auburn; daughter, Stacy Treinen and her son, Draven, Topeka; son and daughter in law, Scott and Angela Treinen and their two children, Macey and Kamryn, Topeka; brothers, Gene and his wife, Mary Treinen, Osage City, Jim and his wife, Wanda Treinen, Topeka; sister Diane Degennaro, Topeka along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Mr. Treinen will lie in state Thursday from 2 -5 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd. Topeka KS 66614. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City KS. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Osage City KS.
Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society, VVA Chapter 604 or Midland Hospice sent in care of the funeral home.
