Doris Joyce (Addington) Cauvel, 80, passed away May 27, 2012 at home with her granddaughter Leticia at her side.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents, Walter & Olga Addington, her husband, Ernest “Cap” Cauvel (1996), her two sons, Sam (1999) and Tom (2010).
Doris was born Oct. 17, 1931 in Warrick County. She graduated from Boonville High school in 1948. She went to Nursing School at Deaconess School Of Nursing graduating in 1952. She married April 12, 1953. She started her Surgical RN career at Deaconess Hospital and finished her Surgical career at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed working in surgery where everyone enjoyed learning from her the love of surgery. She had her favorites like Drs. Guy Hoover & Michael Hoover, Drs. Ralph & David Carlsons & Dr. Cari Hanni from Surgical Associates; Drs. William Fisher, Barney Maynard & Phil Gilson from Urological Associates & let’s not forget her “babies” the Anesthesiologists at both Deaconess & St. Mary’s Hospitals.
In the early 1970’s, she & Mel White started from scratch & laid the foundation for Monticello Manor which later became Transcendent Nursing Facility. Doris & Mel White wanted a place where residents & resident’s families could feel like they all belonged to one big happy family along with all the employees.
She was a member of Mt. Gilead Church.
Doris is survived by daughter, Candi; son, Jack; grandchildren, Shawn Cauvel from Killeen, Texas, Leticia (T.J.) Pribble who lived with Doris and Amy Cauvel, Samantha Kiper, Jason McClure and Megan Haire all of Boonville. Also her great grandchildren, Sarijah Cauvel of Killeen, Texas, Keana & Ryley Pribble of Boonville & Jordan & Bailey Cauvel & Adrian & Kailey Maldonado of Boonville.
The family would like to thank Mia & Helen of Southern Care Hospice for their loving care of Doris and the family.
Funeral Service 10:00 AM Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until service time Wed. at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
