Boonville -

Wilfred Miller, 94, passed away Aug. 4, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Fred was born March 28, 1918. He attended Chandler School and then went to work on the family farm until going into the U.S. Army in 1942. He proudly served his country and is a WWII veteran. After the military, he worked and later retired from Whirlpool Corp after 36 years.

He married Mildred (Barr) on March 22, 1942 at Oak Grove Methodist Church just before deployment overseas. After serving in WWII, he returned to Warrick County where they raised their family. Fred and Mildred were married for 58 years before her death on January 24, 2001. Fred was the youngest of 13 children and is preceded by all his brothers and sisters and their parents, Elva and Bessie Miller.

He was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church for 45 years and served his church for years by mowing and doing yard work. He loved gardening and going to auctions with friends George and Truman. He dedicated his life to his church, family and friends.

Surviving are his son, John of Boonville; daughter, Darlene Masterson of Boonville; three grand-children, Tim Miller (Dawn), Misty Adkisson (Dwayne), LaShayne Harris; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Felicia, Madelyn, Ashlee and Zakkery; and one great-great grandchild, Taven.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh with military rites by the Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the staff at Woodmont and St. Mary’s hospice and nursing staff.
